What’s The Process?

First, I need to get to know you and hear about your project and/or ideas and you should get to know me. If we’ve worked together before, great! If you’ve never met me before, we can do a quick chat to get acquainted (no charge!). If you decide you want to work together, we can move on. If you don’t feel it is a good fit, no hard feelings! Writing is a personal process, and not everyone is a good feedback partner for everyone else.

I’ll ask you to send me the writing, outline, etc. that you have and want help with. We can meet again for a lengthier conversation. If you haven’t written anything yet, and are looking for help getting started, no worries! We can just meet and get a plan started. If you do have drafts or outlines, no matter how messy, it’s very helpful for me to have a look and formulate some ideas before we chat again.

If you send me your work, I’ll read it over and set up an appointment with you to talk about the feedback. If you’d rather I just email you the feedback, that’s fine too! While conversation about the writing can offer benefits that written feedback just cannot, this is your process and you decide what you’d like to do! If you decide later on you want to chat, no worries! Jump on my schedule and I’ll be happy to schedule time to talk.

If you didn’t send any writing to me (or outlines, writing plans, etc.), but you’d like to work together, I’m happy to send some writing exercises or prompts that might help get the juices flowing. I often try to tailor exercises to my students, so if there is something you want to tap into and don’t know how, I can help! Once you feel like you have something written to share, either send it my way or schedule another chat time with me.

There is no obligation–if, after we meet for an optional quick 15 minute chat, you decide you want to go another route, there is no charge. If you do want to work with me, how long we do so is up to you! I’ll be happy to meet with you once a month (to allow for you to write and process) for as long as you need. And by “meeting,” we can talk in person or we can message over email.
