About

I am a writer who is interested in documenting humanity and people’s journeys. I started with my own blog in 2010. Once I graduated with a graduate degree in creative writing, my writing took several forms until my memoir, Mosaic, was written! It is available from Unsolicited Press. I’m currently working on a historical fiction novel.

I have an MFA in creative writing from Miami University (in Ohio). I have worked as both a nonfiction editor and a reader for OxMag, the official literary magazine of the graduate program at Miami University. I also was a fiction reader for Carve Magazine (where I read some amazing short stories). In addition to my upcoming memoir, I have numerous other publications that you can check out on my publications menu. It’s a good place to get a sense of what I write and my style.

I’m a professor at Miami University teaching writing courses and I am passionate about bringing writing to communities. I founded the creative writing program at the Oxford Community Arts Center, where I teach and mentor people who range from those who are published and fully invested in a new project to those who have never tried creative writing before (but just wanted to)!

As a writing coach, I help others create the stories they envision. Have a book idea and need some encouragement and ideas of how to get the words on the page? Reach out! Helping others with their writing is one of my favorite parts of my work. Check out the Services tab to see how I might be able to help you.
